PROJECT SUMMARY: The al secure a river monitorinc PRIVATE X COMMERCIAL licant is VP_SSP_ I . + 768 sq.ft. + 768 sq.ft. ? to construct a boathouse to t r Environmental setting The project location is on the 2400 acre Weyerhaeuser Paper Company property adjacent to the Roanoke River. The company's property is located within Martin County, however the Roanoke River is in Bertie County. The facility has various components that would be expected with an industrial site. At the specific location of the proposed project the property has been bulk- headed for many years. A security fence is located atop the bulkhead. Landward of the bulkhead the area is being used to store various industrial. equipment. Adjacent to the bulkhead the Roanoke River has a depth of + 12' at NWL. Approximately 50' beyond the bulkhead is a large concrete structure with dolphins which appears to have historically been used for barge mooring. No vegetation of any type is located at the project site. Project proposal The applicant is proposing to construct a 32' long by 24' wide boathouse adjacent to the bulkhead within the Roanoke River. The boathouse will.be located within 12' of water and will be located between the bulkhead and the concrete structure. The sides of the boathouse will have 8' plywood siding with a 5.0' security fence from the boathouse deck to the plywood. On the downstream end there will be located a remote overhead door. When completed the boathouse will be utilized for the storage of the boat that is used for environmental monitoring on the river. At the location where the boathouse is to be located, the Roanoke River is + 500' in width, therefore, no navigation problems will occur. Environmental impact The project as proposed will have minimal environmental impact. David L. Gossett - Washington Office - 6 June 1989 o? ??? ?o ? ? S GpP ti??l?GP?OyI Cpl et`?
