SITE EVALUATION
The applicant proposes to replace 285 feet of failing
bulkhead along Colington Creek, an arm of the Albemarle Sound.
The area behind the failing bulkhead is upland. Most of the
upland is vegetated with lawn grass. A small portion is wooded
with Myrica cerifera. Immediately offshore of the old bulkhead
are scattered areas of submerged masonry debris. Therefore, much
of the new bulkhead will be replaced along the existing
alignment.
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
The proposed project will have no significant impact upon
the environment. Water turbidity will temporarily increase in
the immediate area during construction.
CAMA Review
The site is classified as Community by the Kill Devil Hills
LUP. The proposed development is consistent with CAMA and the
LUP.
