Typical Cross Section Description: 2 lane undivided highway with 10' lanes, 0.03 crown and 3.89' shoulders. 2 lane undivided highway with 9' lanes crown. Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hr/day): Desi n/Future: ? Year: Existin : 390 Year: 2011 General Project Narrative: Existing 3 spans, 1@29.9' 1@30', and 1@29.9' Prestressed Concrete channels bridge with PPC caps on timber piles at end bents and PPC cap on timber post and concrete sill (Description of Minimization of Water at interior bent spans Bald Knob Creek. A replacement bridge is a single span 1@90' 33-inch box beam bridge with slope abutments. The proposed spread is 4.4'; therefore, Quality Impacts) horizontal deck drains are proposed on low side (left) of bridge and discharged over rip rap berms below. Roadway runoffs is collected in a 2@TB 2G1 at sag location on low side with shoulder berm gutter. Outlet at toe of fill into a 2'x2' base preformed scour hole to discipate the energy before it get to the main stream. The 100-year flood elevation is about 7' below existing bridge low chord. Proposed low chord elevations was set about 0.5' below existing to better tie in to existing roadway vertical curve. 1.) Maximizing shoulder section — A grass shoulder section is utilized on the project to promote diffused passive stormwater treatment. 2.) Minimizing roadway side slopes — Gentle and flat roadside slopes have been utilized to the maximum extent possible in locations while minimizing costs and ensuring safety for embankment heights. 3.) Assessing and minimizing the impacts of stormwater runoff to environmentally sensitive areas — The stream and tributary within the project limits are bridged and piped in the current condition. The project results in no new signifcant impacts to either the stream or tributary. 4.) Promoting sensitive intersection of streams - The existing alignment of the stream crossing will be maintained to minimize the bridge length and avoid significant costs and right of way impacts. 5.) Providing adequate ground cover—Appropriate seed mixtures have been specified for all seasons of planting. Erosion control matting will be utilized to minimize erosion while vegetation is established. 6.) Providing adequate energy dissipation — Riprap energy dissipators are proposed at pipe outlets. Riprap dissipator pads are proposed for bridge deck scupper locations. 7.) Maximizing vegetative conveyance — Vegetated ditches are proposed where applicable to promote sedimentation, filtration, and infiltration. 8.) Encouraging diffuse flow — Riprap energy dissipators and dissipator pads are utilized to diffuse flow at pipe outlets and bridge deck scuppers.
