Due to elevated results for certain pollutant parameters, additional grab sampling was conducted at Outfall 01 on June 13, 2013 by Andrew Martin of Charlotte -Mecklenburg Storm Water Services. The results of that sampling event are enclosed. The results indicate that the storm water discharged on June 13, 2013 contained elevated concentrations of total suspended solids (260 mg/L), copper (57 µg/L), zinc (86000 µg/L), lead (930 µg/L), and a turbidity reading of 260 NTU. When results were compared to the analytical monitoring requirements of NPDES General Permit NCG030000, violations of benchmark values for zinc (67 µg/L), copper (7 µg/L), lead (30 µg/L), and total suspended solids (100 mg/L) were detected. Wire -Bond was issued a NPDES Storm Water permit Certificate of Coverage (NCG030629) on November 1, 2012 In order to reduce pollutant concentrations of elevated parameters, you are requested to perform a detailed investigation into pollution sources at your facility that may be contributing to elevated discharges. Once pollution sources are identified, corrective actions to eliminate or minimize polluted runoff from those sources should be implemented. All investigations and corrective actions should be documented as well. I will be in contact soon to schedule a follow-up inspection. The purpose of the inspection will be to review efforts taken to investigate and eliminate pollution sources contributing to elevated pollutant concentrations at your facility.
