Deep Gap, NC 28618 RECEO�ED/DEi2018��®W� SUBJECT: Compliance Evaluation Inspection Certificate of Coverage: NCG550402 \NeterOCT Resources 17 158 Deep Gap Estates Rd, Deep Gap Permitting Section Ashe County Dear Ms. Deyton, On October 3, 2018 Kelli Park, of this office, conducted a compliance evaluation inspection of the wastewater treatment system located at the above address. The State requires the Division of Water Resources to inspect these types of systems every five years. Miss Park was unable to locate the effluent discharge pipe, however there was no odor and there were no noticeable impacts to the stream. It is a permit requirement to have the area around the effluent pipe cleared and maintained. Effluent being discharged in the stream should also be checked periodically to ensure that no solids are being discharged and that there are no impacts to the stream. Via a phone conversation with Miss Park you reported that you are not sure where the effluent pipe is. Please investigate this matter and determine where the outflow is, as it is critical to check the effluent and a permit requirement to maintain the area to and around the outfall. Chlorine is not required in your system since it was installed in 1986. The permit also requires that the septic tank contents be pumped out every 3-5 years to prevent solids from clogging the sand filter system. Via a phone conversation with Miss Park the system was pumped last in 2012. The system is overdue to be pumped. Please get the system pumped again immediately, let Miss Park know that it was pumped, and keep records of septic tank pumping on hand as a historical record and proof that you had the tank pumped. Since you have been unable to locate the effluent pipe, discharge samples have not been analyzed.
