Meadow Road Eden, NC 27288-3636 Subject: Compliance Evaluation Inspection Report NPDES Permit#NC0029980 MillerCoors LLC WWTP, Rockingham County Dear Mr. Lucas: On July 10, 2018, Paul DiMatteo and Rebecca Chandler of the Division of Water Resources(Division), Winston- Salem Regional Office, conducted a Compliance Evaluation Inspection of the above referenced wastewater treatment system.You were present for the inspection. During the inspection you gave a tour of the facility and explained future plans.The inspection is summarized below and a report is attached for your records. Site Review 1. Permit The current permit became effective on June 1, 2012 and expired on April 30, 2017.A renewal application was submitted in October of 2016. Permitted components influent screw lift pumps, manual bar screen,grit chamber, aeration basins,secondary clarifiers, and polishing lagoons. 2. Facility Site Review The facility was as described in the permit.The facility ceased operation in September 2016 and no wastewater has flowed to the plant since March 2017.The plant was reportedly drained and cleaned before ceasing discharge.Some mechanical equipment appeared to have surface rust and you noted that the rubber diffuser membranes in the aeration basins had been exposed to the sun since 2017 and would likely need to be replaced to function properly. It was also noted that several of the aeration basins have not retained water introduced during rain events and are likely leaking.There did not appear to be any evidence of wastewater entering the facility since it ceased operation. Please be advised that this office has recommended to the permit writers that WSRO approval be required before restarting the facility, in order to verify that maintenance issues have been corrected.
