This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in NPDES WW Permit No. NC0003468. Cells 1 and 2 have been constructed and in receiving coal ash removed and to be removed from the coal ash basins, the third cell will be completed soon. Coal ash excavation from primary basin is almost completed. The secondary basin is under dewater. Due to water level dropping in the basin, seeps 103 and 104 have been dry and 102 had very little seepage.Although coal ash excavation is ongoing, everything at the facility is still in order, well maintained, and clean. Because of ongoing ash excavation, the outfall 002 has been closed with grout. In addition, the sewer package has been removed from the permit since an onsite septic treatment system including tanks and field was constructed last year Therefore, there is no treated domestic wastewater discharge anymore. No foam and other debris were observed on receiving water, the Dan River, at Outfall 001. eDMR data match the data presented in Laboratory reports; no errors were found. Associated chain of custody records were available. All laboratories used at the facility are certified for required parameter analysis. Well documented ORC visitation and operation logs were provided for review.
