SUMMARY
With this modification (MOD), this facility will maintain five (5) outfalls:
• Outfalls 001, 002, 003 (cooling water);
• Outfall 004 currently discharges stormwater (with next renewal to be
discontinued - transferred to the Stormwater Unit); and
• new Outfall 005 servicing a sump drain with oil/water separator [herein
designated a "low -volume waste."
PERMIT LIMITS - PROPOSED MODIFICATIONS
New Outfall 005 discharges from an equipment sump serviced by an oil/water separator. This
facility collects lubrication and maintenance wastes combining lost petroleum products with
leakage water influent from various sources. Because wastes are combined, the Division has
defined this complex discharge as a "low -volume waste" [40 CFR 423.11] We have therefore
applied the following limits and monitoring conditions to the permit (see Section A. (4.)]:
• pH limits in the permit are based on the North Carolina water quality standards [15A
NCAC 2B .0200].
• Temperature limits in the permit are based on the North Carolina water quality standards
[15A NCAC 2B .0200].
• Outfall 005 —limits and monitoring defined in accord with 40 CFR 423.15 (c), New
source performance standards (NSPS).
• Previous outfall entered in BIMS as Rowan County; 005 and all others hereby
revised to Davidson County.
