Narrative Description Applicant's property is a 1 3/4 acre tract located on the point which separates Smith Creek from Camp Creek on a private road off SR 1317 near Oriental, Pamlico County. The applicant's property is dominated by his residential structure, and the remainder of the property is maintained as a yard with various bushes and trees surrounding the perimeter of this house and also the edge of the shoreline. The shoreline is protected by a small revetment on the south side, the remainder of the property being unbulkheaded. Two large patches of marsh exist on both the east and west sides of the property, primarily composed of black needlerush and salt reed grass. A boathouse exists also on the west side along with this pier to which the applicant is planning the improvements. The applicant is proposing to extend this pier with this permit application another 48' offshore for a total pier length of 1101. Tie pilings will extend 12' waterward of the end of this structure and a total of I pilings will flank both sides of the pier. 10. Anticipated Impacts This project will involve the covering of approximately 1230 sq. ft. of what is currently Public Trust bottom. Whatever hazards this poses to navigation are expected to be minor.
