Dear Mr. Sawyers:
This is to acknowledge receipt of your request that State Permit No. WQ0005013 be
rescinded. Your request indicated that this facility no longer utilizes this Spray Irrigation
System and the associated Lagoon as a means of waste disposal and that the permit is no
longer needed. Please note that the Groundwater Section of the Division must concur with
the abandonment of the groundwater monitoring wells before the abandonment of the wells
shall occur.
By copy of this letter, I am requesting confirmation from our Winston-Salem Regional
Office that this permit is no longer needed. After verification by the Regional Water Quality
and Groundwater Sections that the permit and wells are no longer needed, State Permit No.
WQ0005013 will be rescinded.

Taylor Brothers has operated a holding lagoon and spray irrigation system for a
number of years to collect and dispose of "washdown" water from our facility. This
water was composed of only tobacco and food grade flavorings. Effective October 17,
1994, a forced main sewer line was put into operation to dispose of this water, making
the holding lagoon and irrigation system unnecessary.
We request that permit # WQ0005013 be voided. We alLo r ed --
�r �J to close the four monitoring wells required by the rant_ We plan to have the wells
�\"&S sampled Decem er , 1994, as requested by Steve Mauney and Sherry Knight of the
[Winston-Salem Regional office, to verify the quality of the water supply.
