Dear Sirs: The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) proposes to line banks and stream bed of Little Cokey Swamp at outlet of crossline under SR 1157 in order to stop scour and undercutting at crossline. This activity proposes to permanently impact a total of 25 linear feet of stream channel downstream of crossline. The NCDOT anticipates that this stream stabilization activity will be authorized under Nationwide Permit 3 (NWP 3). This application is also intended as a request for written authorization from the NC Division of Water Quality to proceed with a stream cleanout under General Water Quality Certificate # 3494 (NWP 3). No sites eligible for listing on the National Register, occur within the area of potential effect. This project will not affect fisted or eligible historic properties. JR.
