NOTICE OF A COMBINED PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PROPOSED
NC 32 CONNECTOR FROM US 64 TO THE INTERSECTION OF NC 32 AND NC 94
TIP Project No. R-3620
Washington County
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold a Combined
Public Hearing on Monday, June 8, 2009 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at the Windows on the
World Tech Center, located at 100 W US Highway 64 Bypass, Roper.
NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer
questions and receive comments about the proposed project. The opportunity to submit
written comments or questions also will be provided. Interested citizens may attend at
any time during the above mentioned hours. No formal presentation will be made.
NCDOT proposes to construct a connector from US 64 to the intersection of NC
32 and NC 94. The Department is currently looking at two alternatives. Alternative 1
begins at the Tysons Farm interchange [US 64 and SR 1139 (Beasley Road)] then
follows Beasley Road for about 4500 feet before continuing northward on new location
to the intersection of NC 32 and NC 94. Alternative 2 begins at the Tysons Farm
interchange as well, and continues north onto existing SR 1136 (Holly Neck Road). At
the intersection of Holly Neck Road and NC 32, Alternative 2 follows NC 32 eastward to
the intersection of NC 32 and NC 94. The purpose of the project is to improve
connectivity within the study area.
A map displaying the location and design of the project and a copy of the
environmental document, the Environmental Assessment (EA), is available for public
review at the NCDOT County Maintenance Yard located at 14193 NC Hwy 94N,
Creswell, 27928 and at the NCDOT Division Engineer's Office - Highway Division 1
located at 113 Airport Drive - Suite 100, Edenton, 27932. The maps are also available
