There is one proposed major structure involved with the roadway relocation of Prison Camp Road. The proposed relocation involves a construction of a new bridge (1@40', 1@55', 1@40') spanning Collie Swamp. In the project limits, Collie Swamp is a jurisdictional stream and listed in the effective Martin County FIS as a FEMA Limited Detailed Study stream. The roadway relocation and bridge construction have been designed to have as little environmental and surface water impacts as possible. Excavation was kept to a minimum and proposed stream channels were tied into the existing stream with as little impact as possible. Where excavation is necessary, coir fiber matting and riprap were utilized for bank stabilization in an attempt to reduce sediment transport and streambank erosion. The existing road grade has been excavated to the existing natural ground in the swamp and will be mitigated to reduce impacts. The proposed roadway side slopes have been reduced to 2:1 in order to minimize impacts of the roadway relocation.Sungate Design Group, P.A.North Carolina Department of TransportationHighway Stormwater Program STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR NCDOT PROJECTSProject Type:Highway Division 1Address:General Project InformationB-5503WBS Element:Roadway RelocationWBS Element:Joshua G.
