Storm water .€rianaged under this permit consists primarily of runoff from the paved parking lots and roofs of the processing building and coverer] areas. Stormwater collected in the facility's secondary containment systems is managed separately and processed in DART's on-site; w=astewater treatment plans: and discharged into the sewer system under permit froni the local PQTW. 2. Incoming bulk wastes for treatment at DART are tra€rslerred to process Minks located either inside the processing building or under cover, all with secondary containment. The secondary containment is sufficient to contain the largest tank within the. area. Containerized wastes are; stored in covered areas or inside the processing building and are protected from the stormwater. The RCRA Permitted storage areas are equipped with secondary containment designed to contain 10% of the volume of the containers or the volume of tile largest container, whichever is greater_ 4. Treatment operations aecu€` inside the processing building within secondary containment structures, §. DART Acquisitions conducts inspections on a routine basis as part of the RCRA permit requirements. Inspections at the facility cover safety, housekeeping and preventive maintenance issues. Items needing corrective action are addressed in a timely manner. 6. During normal operation, the outlet valve for tire: starmwater retention basin is closed. As a matter of practice, die stormwater within the basin is visually inspected for oil sheen, color, or other obvious indicators of stormwater pollution prior to releasing the basin to Stewart Creek. 7. DARN' Acquisitions maintains a written Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) and Contingency plains that specifies procedures to follow in the event of fires, explosions, or unplanned releases at [lie facility. DAR`]' Acquisitions also .maintains, in strategic locations throughout the facility, emerger€.cy response equipment and supplies required to expeditiously control spills. The equipment includes oil. absorbent, sand bags. hand tools, and personal protective equipment. 8. DART Acquisitions employees receive introductory and annual refresher training on topics such as safety practices, personal protective equipment, housekeeping, chemical hazard. communication, and the Contingency i'lan and spill response. The following changes in industrial activities have occurred at the DART facility since the issuance of the stormwa_ter permit in 2009. In 2€311 this facility was purchased from the previous owner Iferitage Envi roll men ta I Services by .DART AcgUiSit.EODS, M.C. 2. In 2012 DART reactivated its wastewater treatment system for Che treatment ofofl=site wastewaters from outside industrial generators anct adding a new plate and frame filter press for sludge dewatering capabilities. 3. In 2012 DART applied for and was issued ax istewater discharge permit from the City of Charlotte local P01"W. 4, DART added a new process for the shredding oroutdated, off -spec, damaged or unsalable consumer goods such as, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, obsolete or discontinued consumer commodities (toys, health & beauty aids, etc). A11 processing at the DART facility is conducted within secondary containment systems and in a manner to prevent the possible contamination OfpollUtants into the stormwater. Therefore these changes will not have significant impact on the storm.water quality at the facility.
