REGAN tree • LINDA CULPEPPER Water Resources Interim Director • Environmental Quality May 1, 2018 Shannon V. Becker,President Aqua North Carolina,Inc. 202 Mackenan Court Cary,NC 27511 Subject: Compliance Evaluation Inspection Wildwood Green Collection System–WQCSD0174 Wake County Dear Mr. Becker, Andy Neal of the Raleigh Regional Office conducted a compliance evaluation inspection on April 30,2018.The assistance of Mr.Wayne Alford,Utility Tech II, and Mr. Coty Stephens,Utility Tech, was appreciated. Please find the attached Basin-wide Information Management System(BIMS) inspection checklist summarizing the inspection.Findings during the inspection were as follows: WQCSD0174 Wildwood Green Collection System Compliance Inspection Evaluation: 1. All wastewater flow is conveyed to and treated at the Wildwood Green wastewater treatment plant (NC0063614). 2. The Wildwood Green collection system has 4 pump stations: Monticello, Saddleridge, Kilnstone and Celbridge—all of which have secured access, operational audible / visible alarms, telemetry, and emergency contact information signs. All alarms operated when the high-water float was lifted, and telemetry was operational. Both wet wells exhibited little to moderate waste build-up. Monticello and Saddle ridge pump stations are connected to on-site generators which are checked weekly and exercised monthly.Kilnstone and Celbridge pump stations do not have on-site generators but are equipped for quick- connect to a portable generator stored off-site. Per Mr. Alford and corresponding logbooks, all pump stations are inspected weekly. 3. Per Mr.Alford, the Wildwood Green collection system has approximately 20,000 feet of gravity sewer.Per Mr.Alford's records,2,370 feet of sewer line were cleaned in 2017. 4. A map of the collection system was available for review dunng the inspection. The map included pipe location, flow direction number of service taps, and pump stations. The map did not include pipe sizes, pipe materials, and approximate pipe age. Please update collection system map to include all information required by the permit. 5. The Wildwood Green collection system uses the company's standard educational material for their Fats, Oils, and Grease Program Material is distributed to users twice per year. Per Mr.Alford, the Wildwood Green collection system has one high-priority line located behind Kilnstone pump station. The line appeared to be in good condition at the time of inspection. 7. Mr. Alford had the company's Spill Response Action Plan was available for review during the inspection. 8. The Wildwood Green collection system right-of-way areas are located along state-maintained highways and a privately maintained golf course. 9. DWR records indicate that no sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs)have been reported for the subject collection system since June 2006. Please respond to above item 4 in writing within 30 days of receipt of this letter. Specifically, please include in your written response a description of how the system map will be updated and all required records will be maintained hereafter.
