DWQ Project No. 041246
TIP No. R-2237B
Caldwell County
Dear Mr. Pettyjohn:
Dee Freeman
Secretary
On March 25, 2009, I visually inspected the construction work on US Highway 321 in Caldwell County and
the project appeared to be in good shape. Construction work is mainly taking place at the northern and
southern ends of the project. The erosion and sedimentation control structures, vegetative covering, mulching
and matting appear to be working properly.
Please continue to ensure that all sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and that seeding and
mulching are performed as needed to protect downstrream wate'rs. A copy of the inspection report is attached
to this letter.
If you have questions, please call me at 828-296-4500.
Sincerely,
Pad-

If yes, complete the section below:
Project appeared to be in good shape. Sediment and erosion control program looks good
although some sediment control structures need attention.
Some attention is needed to repair areas that have washed along the roadway and rills in cut
slopes. These areas are mainly in the middle part of the project.
At the present time the heavy construction work is taking place at the north and south ends of
the project in the large rock cut areas.
Please ensure that the sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and that seeding
and mulching are performed as required to protect State surface waters.
