This letter is in response to the above referenced subject line in which the Waynesville collection system
reported multiple SSO’s for the month of February 2018.

The Town of Waynesville is aware of the ongoing issues of sewer overflows near the Haywood County
Fairgrounds property. The Town has put a plan in place to begin the process of abandoning an exiting 24”
sewer trunk line that has three back to back 90 degree bends. The Town will be proposing a new layout that
will involve, NCDENR, NCDOT and the County. As soon as these plans are approved by all stakeholders, the
Town will begin putting together a capital improvement project so correct these issues.

Please accept this response as our formal request to forgive any intent to assess civil penalty as we work
through ways to improve our process and daily operations.
