HomeMy WebLinkAbout20080675 Ver 2_Staff Comments_20090224Project Name: Traditions (Ammons Mountain Properties, Inc) DWQ Project #: 08-0675v2 Date: 2/24/09 After careful review of your additional information dated February 17, 2009, the DWQ has determined that the measures proposed and described to ensure minimum water release are acceptable. However, this office recommends the following: 1. The minimum release (low flow) pipe is at least 4 inches in diameter (6 inches preferred), fitted with an end cap, and a 2-inch hole (orifice) drilled into the cap. This will ensure ease of maintenance in case there is clogging. 2. Please raise the low flow pipe at least 6 inches above the floor (current elevation 2487.5 feet) to further minimize any potential for clogging of the orifice. 3. That the pipe material should be strong enough to carry the surcharge from the 10-feet earth material plus vehicular traffic on the pavement. In this sense, we suggest that you consider using a ductile iron pipe (DIP) instead of PVC. 4. Please ensure that all pipes through the berm shall be provided with seepage control (anti-seepage) measures. Please submit revised plans and cross sections of the impoundment on Sheet DI I showing the minimum water release pipe, primary outlet structure, emergency spillways and major pool levels.
