Hi Amy,
I've attached a document with updated pictures and description on dock location and placement of RipRap to control
bank erosion.
1. Will shoreline stabilization work take place from land or water?
Mostly water, trees will be removed via land
To clarify, will application of rip rap to shoreline be done via land or water?
PEI
Please provide a photo that clearly shows the condition of the shoreline at the site of the
proposed project. The photo you provided is too dark and does not indicate that any erosion is
taking place.
Photos attached
Describe the location of the proposed staging area. Will this be located within the 50' Catawba
Buffer Zone or outside of this zone?
Staging will take place from water, some staging will be in buffer the rest will be outside the buffer
What is the size area you are proposing to use within the buffer? Please include staging area dimensions and a
description of how vegetation might be altered in this area.
No
3. Are you proposing to build any temporary construction access roads through the buffer? If so,
provide the location(s) and dimensions of the proposed road as it passes through the 50'
Catawba Buffer.
4. Describe the purpose and need to remove all undergrowth from the shoreline (at site of
proposed shoreline stabilization) inward 50 feet. Is this proposed clearing temporary?
Temporary, we plan on replacing undergrowth.
Provide a purpose and need to remove undergrowth from the Catawba Buffer adjacent to the shoreline stabilization
project.
MOO
5. Are you proposing to re -slope the shoreline before applying rip rap?
Any trees (DBH equal to or exceeding 5 inches or a stump diameter equal to or exceeding six
inches) that are proposed for removal must be identified. Please provide a count of the
number of trees you are proposing to remove. Note that disturbed vegetation must be
restored within 6 months.
We'll be removing about 10 trees, all will be replaced along the 700' of shoreline I own.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Describe the purpose and need to remove the 10 trees along the shoreline. Vegetation must be replanted in the area
where it has been removed from.
Thanks,
David Williams

Mr. Williams,
Thank you for speaking with me today regarding your shoreline stabilization application.
The attached map is why I was confused about your address. It pulled this location (see attached map)
when I entered 5734 Grace Chapel Rd, but now I understand google maps is incorrect.
If you can forward the correct shoreline stabillization application to your contractor, I would appreciate
it. I have attached it to this email. The NC DWR web page where they are located
