No. 131 on SR 1810 17BP.12.R.31 F.A. No: NA Federal (IISACE) Permit Required? County: Document: Project Tracking No. (Internal Use) 11-10-0014 Catawba MCC Funding: State ❑ Federal Yes ❑ No Permit Type: NW 3 Project Description: This undertaking proposes to replace Bridge No. 131, in kind, over a tributary to Allen Creek on SR 1810 (Providence Mill Road). An offsite detour is expected. It is possible that some drainage or ditches may be shifted as part of the design. The area of potential affects for this project is the construction limits, estimated at 40 ft either side of the existing centerline with a length continuing 200 ft from the ends of the bridge. SUMMARY OF CULTURAL RESOURCES REVIEW Brief description of review activities, results of review, and conclusions: Aerial mapping and topography was examined. Records at the Ofce of State Archaeology were reviewed. USGS quadrangle mapping depicting previously reviewed areas and site locations was copied — no surveys were on record nor are there sites in the vicinity of this project. The area of previously disturbed soil is large compared to the overall project limits. Based on these reviews for the in-kind replacement of a small, existing bridge, expectations than an intact or otherwise signicant archaeological resource might be impacted is low. Brief Explanation of why the available information provides a reliable basis for reasonably predicting that there are no unidentified historic properties in theAPE: The undertaking involves replacing an existing bridge in-place. The APE for the project is no more than 80 ft. wide with a length less than 500 ft., a relatively small undertaking. The existing facility, the road and bridge, has already disturbed the majority of the APE. No previously recorded archaeological sites were noted during investigations at the Ofce of State Archaeology. Combined, these factors suggest that undocumented, signicant archaeological sites are unlikely to be located within the APE.
