Please reference the Department of the Army permit issued on July 7, 2004 for the subject project, the North Carolina CAMA Major Permit Renewal issued on February 19, 2008, and your letter received by this office on February 21, 2008 regarding your request to transfer, renew and modify the subject permit to construct a Food Lion Store (fill 0.48 acres of wetlands), place a culvert and construct a road (0.04 acres of wetlands) and develop residential lots (0.24 acres of wetlands). The 15-acre site is located at the intersection of East Island Drive and Southeast 59th Street, in Oak Island, Brunswick County, North Carolina. You have requested a permit transfer to Funston Land & Timber, LLC and Food Lion, LLC and a permit modification to allow for the construction of a beach club to serve the Brunswick Forest Subdivision. Brunswick Forest subdivision is located off NC Hwy-17 in Leland, Brunswick County and is approximately 4,900 acres in area. The proposed beach club facility consists of two covered clubhouses, each measuring 1,870 square feet in area, with a 6' wide beach access walkway leading to a 21' in length by 10' in width platform. The proposed project modification replaces the development of four residential lots with a beach club to serve the Brunswick Forest community and will result in a slight increase in wetland impacts of (0.01 ac).
