Mr Jay Bennett, P E Mr J Victor Barbour, P E Mr Kevin Lacy, P E Ms Sharon Lipscomb Ms Tammy Denning Mr Everett Ward Mr Mike Bruff, P E Mr John Hennessy Mr Charles Brown, P E , PLS Mr Bradley D Bass, Right of Way Agent - Division 8 FHWA 14 NOTICE OF A DESIGN PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PROPOSED US 64, ASHEBORO BYPASS, FROM US 64 WEST OF ASHEBORO TO US 64 EAST OF ASHEBORO AND ACCESS ROAD FROM US 64 (ASHEBORO SOUTHERN BYPASS) TO NC 159 TIP Project No R-2536 Randolph County The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold a Pre-Hearing Open House and a Design Public Hearing on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Education Building at the North Carolina Zoological Park located at 4401 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro NCDOT representatives will be available at the Pre-Hearing Open House between the hours of 4 00 p m and 6 30 p m to answer questions and receive comments about the proposed project The opportunity to submit written comments or questions will also be provided Interested citizens may attend at any time during the above mentioned hours A formal presentation will begin at 7 00 p m The presentation will consist of an explanation of the selected corridor location, design, and right of way and relocation requirements and procedures The hearing will be open to those present for statements, questions and comments The presentation and comments will be recorded and a transcript will be prepared NCDOT proposes to construct a four-lane, median-divided freeway with full control of access on new location from US 64 west of Asheboro to US 64 east of Asheboro about 0 6 miles east of the US 64/Presnell Street intersection The project will also provide for a connector road between the proposed bypass and NC 159 for the North Carolina Zoological Park Additional right of way and the relocation of homes and businesses will be required for construction A map displaying the location and design of the project and a copy of the environmental documents - Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and the Record of Decision (ROD) - are available for public review at Asheboro Municipal Building, 146 North Church Street, Asheboro, 27204, Randolph County Office Building, 725 McDowell Road, Asheboro, NC 27204, and at the NCDOT District Engineer's Office, 300 Country Club Drive, Asheboro, NC 27204 The map may be viewed online at http //www ncdot org/projects/asheboro/ Anyone desiring additional information may contact Mr Jamille Robbins, Human Environment Unit at 1583 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1583, phone (919) 715- 1534, or email jarobbins(a)-dot state nc us Additional material may be submitted until April 11, 2008 NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this hearing Anyone requiring special services should contact Mr Robbins as early as possible so that arrangements can be made
