Subject: Riparian Buffer Authorization
East Wake Middle School
Wake County, NC
Dear Ms. Higgins,
2p171111
SEP 0 3k 2017
DEQ -WATER RESOURCES
On behalf of the Wake County School Board this submittal serves as a Riparian
Buffer Authorization request for your review and approval.
Project Location
The approximately 34.14 -acre site is located near Knightdale, North Carolina
in eastern Wake County. The proposed buffer impacts are located in an
existing wooded area, south of the East Wake Middle School Campus. The
coordinates of 35.822130, -78.499377 generally correspond to the center of
the proposed impact area. The Wake County PIN for the affected property is
1745736232.
Project Site Description
The project area consists of approximately 3.2 acres of wooded property south
of the East Wake Middle School Campus. The project was traversed by SEPI
(E. Black) on April 5, 2017 to identify wetland and stream features. Figure 1
depicts the onsite jurisdictional features. Figure 2 depicts the project on the
Raleigh E., NC USGS Quadrangle (2016) and Figure 3 depicts the project on
the Wake County Soil Survey Sheets #41 and 51 (1970).
3urisdictional Features
One jurisdictional tributary was delineated within the project area. The
perennial tributary (UT to Beaverdam Creek, Index #27-29, C -NSW) is
depicted on the Wake County Soil Survey. A second jurisdictional stream was
delineated adjacent to the project area, but will not be affected by the
proposed project.
Proposed buffer impacts consist of 2693 ft2 Zone 1 and 1780 ft2 Zone 2, and
are allowable without mitigation under the Neuse Buffer Rules Table of uses.
Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the information I have
provided.
