Sorry for the confusion. I am forwarding my original email below for your consideration. Thanks for getting back to me so we could figure this out. Larry Larry J. As you can see below, his only reservation was the spec for silt + clay exceeding 12%. I have modified the specification as per his comments (reduced the silt and the silt+clay from 20% to 12%). You indicated when we took this project through review that you would be OK with our mix (using permatill) if Dr. Hunt was OK with it. With the revision noted on the attached PDF file, would you approve this bio-retention specification for use on the E34 school at Wendell Falls? We were forced to submit the specification as per the DWQ manual in order to get approval before. McNeely Associates and the Owner would like to return to the original soil mix specification as much as possible. With this change, I believe we have met your requirement for Dr. Hunt's approval. Please let me hear something soon, while we still have time to make this change before installation. I would also note that this is the specification used for the Carpenter Elementary school in Cary (prior I of 4 10/27/2008 10:04 AM Fwd: E34 School at Wendell to the change requested by Dr Hunt). Those bio-retention basins at Carpenter are still operating flawlessly and seem to be doing the job they were designed for. Thank you for your consideration. Larry Larry J. I have no problem with the fraction associated with permatill, but your silt + clay fraction is 8% too high (we recommend a max of 12%). I think the system will drain too slowly due to your 20% fines fraction. Good luck! Bill Dr. Hunt, I hope you are having a great day after that strong win this weekend. 2 of 4 10/27/2008 10:04 AM Fwd: E34 School at Wendell We would like to use a bio-retention mix that substitutes some of the sand in the mix with permatill fines. We are not allowed to use this mix according to Lia Myott unless we have your approval. If you could read through the. attached specifications it would allow us to use this mix in the future.
