Mark Tart, PE 0G.L. WILSON BUILDING COMPANY PROJECT NARRATIVE: The site is located southeast of Davis Regional Medical Center, below the existing Internist's and Dermatology offices on Sherlock Drive. Site soils are of the Cecil series based on mapping from USDA Iredell County Soil Survey Series 1960, No. 14. The site is predominantly wooded, with a well-defined drainage channel dividing the property in a northerly direction. This phase of development will impact only the land west of the existing channel. Existing utilities (water, sewer, electricity) are available adjacent to the site, on property currently owned by SMG Properties. The storm drainage calculations are based on the rational method. Drainage area maps for the pre -developed and post -developed conditions are attached (sheets EX -1 and EX -2). Following each map is a data table used to calculate the composite CN, and composite rational "C" values. Calculations for peak discharge were determined using an excel spreadsheet. These flow rates were then used in Carlson Hydraulic modeling software to determine culvert size based on flowing 50% full during a 10 year storm event. Permanent storm water quantity is being provided on this site with an underground stormwater detention system. Calculations for design are included with this submittal. The proposed system attenuates the post -developed flows for the 1 year, 2 year, and 10 year storm events (see page 2 of the Hydraflow calculations for a summary). The site slopes from west to east, toward the existing drainage channel. Earthworks for the site will not require borrow/fill from another site. Topsoil from this site will be used on fill and cut slopes to insure that vegetation is established promptly after work is complete. Stormwater runoff shall be collected by use of swales, drainage piping, temporary slope drains, and catch basins. The storm drainage is designed for a 10 -year storm frequency. A skimmer basin has been provided to trap all sediment prior to reaching the existing channel. Silt fence, straw wattles, and sediment fence rock outlets will be constructed and maintained in accordance with the plans and project details. Rip -rap outlets were designed using an excel worksheet obtained from the NCDEQ- DEMLR, and are attached for review. Erosion Control Plan has been reviewed and approved by Iredell County Development Services, Planning Division — Erosion Control Section on May 2, 2107, Project ID IREDE-2017-078. Three hand augers were performed, beginning at the bottom of the infiltration basin. The results of these tests are included as an attachment to this submittal MDC 2: The above referenced testing included determining the relative location of the SHWT. Based on test pit B, the SHWT is greater than ten (10) feet below the bottom of the infiltration basin. MDC 3: The soil subgrade surface is designed with no (zero) slope. (see detail 2 of 6, sheet C4.1) MDC 4: Pretreatment is provided at both inlets (30" nyoplast inlet) with a two (2) ft sump. See detail 4 of 6, sheet C4.1. MDC 5: The soil investigation performed by CVET concluded that the infiltration rate of the 3 samples taken to be 0.1417 inches/hour. Based on a factor of safety of 2, the required minimum surface area required for a drawdown time of 72 hours is: SA DV FS * (K * T) where:_ SA = required minimum surface, area of infiltration system (ftz) -FS = factor of safety (minimum of 2 is recommended) DV = design volume,(W) K = hydraulic conductivity of soil (in/hr) T = - maximum dewatering time (72 hours) SAreq = (4,883 cf/(2 x 0.1417 in/hr x 72 hr) = 239.33 sf SAprop = 97.46 ft x 4.25 ft = 414.21 sf Based on a factor of safety of 2, and a hydraulic conductivity of 0.1417 in/hr, this infiltration basin will draw down in: T= 4,883 cf / (414.21 sf x 2 x 0.1417 in/hr) = 40.60 hrs MDC 6: Inspection report is provided centered on the isolation row, see detail 4 of 6, sheet C4.1 Project- 2016-075 SMG Properties Date. 5/18/2017 Title- Pre -developed Composite CN CN c G.L.
