TROGDON, III Secaernrtv Subject: Pre-Construction Notification for bridge 230188 repair due to damage by Hurricane Matthew State project DF15006.2024026 involves the rebuilding of the existing NCDOT Bridge #230188 on SR 1516 over Brier Creek. Bridge #230188 consists of 2@17'-10" RC deck on timber joist on timber caps and piles. The proposed bridge at #230188 will be 1@70- 24" Cored Slab with 2'-6" caps and sloping abuhnents. The existing structure and roadway were blown out during hurricane Matthew creating a lazge scour hole at the bridge. The channel will be re-built to the dimension and geometry of the existing downstream channel; an 8 ft base with 2:1 side slopes lined with class II rip rap for stabilizafion. The stream alignment will be altered to an alignment that is conducive for stream channel stability and hydraulics of high flows at the crossing. The proposed bridge is located in Zone AE of FIRM Map number 3720022400K and was studied by "Limited Detailed" methods. No deck drains are proposed. Two stormwater outfalls ate proposed which will be placed at a distance to minimize disturbance to adjacent wetlands. A Rip Rap pad will be utilized to dissipate the energy at the end of the outfall. Please see enclosed copies of the Pre-Construction Notification (PCN), Preliminary Jurisdictional Determination Form, stormwater management plan, and the permit drawings for the above-referenced project. T'he project was let on Apri16, 2017 and construcrion will begin as soon as possible.
