The roadway at Bridge 230188 was breached as the result of Hurricane Matthew on October 8, 2016. In our meeting on-site, we determined that NCDOT would re-establish the stream channel through the bridge while also re-establishing the floodplain bench under the bridge. The side slopes will be constructed with class II rip-rap stone. There are no impacts as a result of this project. Brier Creek will be pumped around the construction area to ensure that the work area is dry. Additionally, an off-site detour will be used. This is a design — build project that was let on April 6, 2017 and the contractor will commence construction activities upon receipt of the permits #3 and possibly #13. James J.
