Good catch April! I haven't reviewed the letters yet...LOL
Beth, I only need 410 square feet in Zone 2 for the parallel impact which works out to
615 sq. ft when the multipliers are added.
Can you modify this one please?

Hi Beth-
I am new with the Transportation Permitting Unit and have a question regarding the
mitigation letter received. The email from Nikki requests 410 SF in Zone 2, she states, "
DOT is proposing to impact 410 square feet in Zone 2 so I need mitigation for 615 square
feet." The mitigation letter has approved 410 SF in Zone 1 and 615 SF in Zone 2. The
numbers aren't matching and I was wondering if you guys discussed this in more detail?

Hello again!

I have another mitigation request, however this one is for riparian buffer. This is a
bridge to bridge replacement but there is a UT that runs along the road and the project
necessitates getting into that parallel buffer.
DOT is proposing to impact 410 square feet in Zone 2 so I need mitigation for 615 square
feet. I know, I tried to see if they could avoid it but it's just not practical. I've attached
the USGS and Soil Survey maps for you. The coordinates for the project are 36.250377, -
79.838696 and the Stream Classification is 16-1; WS-V; NSW, HUC 03030002; 03-06-02
and this is Jordan watershed.

Division 7 Project — TIP B-5715, Replace Bridge 17 over the Haw River on SR 2351 (Witty Road),
Rockingham County
The purpose of this letter is to notify you that the NCDENR Division of Mitigation Services (NCDENR
DMS) will provide the buffer mitigation for the subject project. Based on the information supplied by you on June
22, 2017, the buffer impacts are located in CU 03030002 of the Cape Fear River basin in the Central Piedmont (CP)
Eco-Region, and are as follows:

All buffer mitigation requests and approvals are administrated through the Riparian Restoration Buffer Fund.
The NCDOT will be responsible to ensure that appropriate compensation for the buffer mitigation will be provided in
the agreed upon method of fund transfer. Upon receipt of the NCDWQ's Buffer Authorization Certification,
NCDENR DMS will transfer funds from the NCDOT 2984 Fund into the Riparian Restoration Buffer Fund. Upon
completion of transfer payment, NCDOT will have completed its riparian buffer mitigation responsibility for this
project. Subsequently, DMS will conduct a review of current NCDOT ILF Program mitigation projects in the river
basin to determine if available buffer mitigation credits exist. If there are buffer mitigation credits available, then the
Riparian Restoration Buffer Fund will purchase the appropriate amount of buffer mitigarion credits from NCDOT ILF
Program.
