0-1 t-z`-j O By way of this letter, I am requesting a permit modification for Action ID SAW 2007 Q3910 285 for the
above referenced project This modification is necessary due to the river bank erosion which has occurred
since the plan design Originally the plan located both interior bents out of the waterway, now bent # 1
fails at the waters edge The contractor proposes to place a negative pressure ring that ties into the
existing shear bank at bent # 1 This will allow the capture of material during the drilled shaft operations
without impacting the water turbidity This negative pressure ring will temporarily impact an additional
0 16 acres of stream bed
Due to the shear bank, the contractor also proposes to install the drilled shafts with permanent caissons
These caissons will permanently impact 0 0003 acres of surface waters However, these caissons will
elmunate the need to permanently impact 0 01 acres of the river bank with riprap
A turbidity curtain was discussed, but the lack of depth (0"-18") along the bank at tlus location prevents
the use of a turbidity curtain
