Subject: [Non-DoD Source] permit site 6 W-5516
The attached pictures were taken on the W-5516 project (permit site 6) in Rowan. This site was completed prior to last week's
heavy rains. The rains scoured the channel upstream of the culvert. I would like to propose converting the channel to a rip rap
ditch. The stream was intermittent, unimportant. DWR required mitigation at the time of permitting, but since mitigation is no
longer required for intermittent streams, we won't be proposing any additional mitigation. The origin of the stream is @13'
from the edge of the matting, some of this was included in the temporary impacts. We'll be proposing an additional 13' of
permanent impacts from the rip rap ditch.
I will prepare a permit modification for the additional impacts. This is the last permit site that we'll be working in, so this should
be it for the mods (I hope).
I'm concerned with the area headcutting off right of way if we have any more heavy rains. Are you ok with us proceeding with
the impacts while we modify the permits?
