The first attached photo I believe is the same view that Amy sent a recent photo of. I'm glad to see the rock installed at the outlet and it will be good/educational to see the progression over time as we continue to monitor it. I still wonder if narrowing the width of the outlet flow will be beneficial by increasing the depth and helping to form a better channel downstream, but I'm willing to let more time pass and storms occur before deciding. The second and third attached photos I believe are of the inlet and upstream of the culvert with the cross vein done to correct the down-cutting issue. Just curious about its progress. Does the channel appear to be building back up? Again it'll be good to see how it does over time. I do want to see the progress in person at some point, but I'm not in any rush. We last visited in June of last year. I visited the site yesterday with DOT and the Corps to observe inlet and outlet conditions. In regards to the inlet, Amy explained that DOT has decided to wait until the project is further along until EC measures adjacent to the inlet are removed. At which point, they will construct a wider floodplain at the inlet. As I understand it, the intent is to allow natural sediment transport processes to backfill the scour hole over time. Is that correct Amy? The modified floodplain bench at the outlet has not been constructed up to this point. As you recall, we agreed that DOT would place Class B sized rock approximately halfway across the existing sill tying it into the existing floodplain bench in an effort to divert/narrow lowflow channel. The intent was to eliminate the waterfall effect at the outlet (4"- 6") to improve aquatic passage. DOT assures me they will construct the floodplain bench over the next two months or so. Although, after reviewing the outlet again, it may not be necessary. A comment was made that the Class B rock would likely wash out with subsequent storms events. And, Amy suggested that the sill is functioning similar to a constructed cross vane. I can see her point in this case. Let us know if you would like DOT to proceed with the floodplain extension or not and if you would like to revisit the site. Thanks. Amy, In the attached email from Steve Morgan, it was suggested that DOT would re-survey the stream profile up and downstream from the culvert for before/after comparisons. I believe this was to determine if the culvert was constructed at the correct elevation? Is DOT still planning to do that?
