A complete set of construction plans has been prepared for this project and is available if necessary, but is not attached to this application for simplicity. The project will entail relocation of approximately 220 linear feet of sanitary sewer from Zone 1 to the Zone 2 buffer. Existing sanitary sewer in the Zone 1 buffer will be abaondoned in place. Sanitary Sewer Relocation - Sawmill Road and Wellesley Park, Raleigh, Lat. 35.883735, Long. -78.671174 A sanitary sewer manhole and sanitary sewer mains and service lines ranging in size from 6 -inch PVC to 10 -inch ductile iron are located within the Zone 1 stream buffer of an unnamed tributary to Mine Creek. The streambed width is approximately 10 LF. As a result of erosion, some of the sanitary sewer infrastructure in the area is exposed and/or unstable. Proposed work consists of the following: • Approximately 220 linear feet of sanitary sewer will be relocated from Zone 1 to the Zone 2 buffer. • The existing pipe parallel to the stream within Zone 1 will be abandoned in place with flowable fill. • One existing manhole within the streambed will be removed and the bank stabilized. • Exposed DIP at the stream crossing will be replaced with restrained joint DIP and will be lowered so that it is no longer exposed in the streambed. The total temporary stream disturbance associated with this work will be approximately 50 linear feet. The total new permanent buffer impacts associated with the relocation will be approximately 1,000 sq ft in Zone 1 and 2,800 sq ft in Zone 2; however, abandonment and relocation of infrastructure in Zone 1 will remove approximately 3,000 sq ft of current Zone 1 impact. Erosion control measures such as silt fence, construction entrance, and dewatering will be used to prevent sedimentation during construction. Impacted areas will be stabilized and revegetated.
