Description of treatment process:
375,000 gallon Oxidation ditch , 130,000 gallon Clarifiers,16,884 CL2 contact
zone,4,400 gallon dechlorination and aeration tank. 52,000 gallon digester,
154,000 gallon sludge holding tank. Permitted flow 300,000 gallons.
Number of Reportable NPDES Violations:
5
High Enterococci for June, July, August, September, and October.
High Enterococci levels are due to Sodium Hypochlorite not feeding properly. Sodium
Hypochlorite leaks in the New Wastewater Treatment Plant. Also, had problems with#1,
#2, and#3 Clarifiers. Above conditions were compounded by exceptionally heavy rains
and high tides that resulted in extremely high flows.
These violations were during a period of complications arrising during change-over to new
and expanded WWTP system.

andestimated total monthly volumes and locations of events in which more than 1,000 gallons of

Description of sewer system:
The Columbia sewer collection system consist of four town maintained
pumping stations (including the WWTP influent pump station) and 63, 626 feet of sewer
lines with manholes.
Reportable Violations: None in 2014
Date of Last Violation: July 28, 2009
Vacuum truck cleaned and photographed the following sewer lines on
June 2"d, 3rd, and 4th.

Light St.
Columbia Ave.
Fonsoe St.
Railroad St.
Elementary School Rd.

The following sewer lines and manholes were replaced using NC Town of
Columbia grants:
Replaced 100' Sewer Line on N. Fonsoe St.
