SUBJECT:
Permit modification request, TIP No. B-4929, Replacement of Bridge No. 16
over the Intracoastal Waterway on NC 210/50 in Pender County, CAMA Major
Permit No. 60-16.
PROPOSED PROJECT:
The work bridge width would be reduced from 40’ to 30’ along its entire length.
The work bridge fingers would also be reduced in width from 40’ to 30’, and
would be relocated to be directly over the permanent bridge bent locations. Four
30’ wide by 40’ long fingers would be added to the west side of the work bridge
to allow the contractor’s cranes to be moved off the main work bridge when not in
use. To protect the work bridge and construction crews from boat traffic, the
contractor has proposed to install temporary fenders at Bents 14 and 15, which are
adjacent to the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Additionally, the permittee
requests to place four floating buoys in the water around the SAV habitat area to
protect it from incidental boat traffic during construction of the bridge.

Minor Modification Request for the CAMA Major Development Permit for the replacement
of Bridge No. 16 over the Intracoastal Waterway on NC 210/50 in Pender County, North Carolina;
TIP No. B-4929; Federal Aid Project No. BRSTP-50(10); Debit $1,00 from WBS No. 40233.1.1
CAMA Major Development Permit No. 60-16 issued May 27, 2016
The NCDOT is requesting a Minor Modification for CAMA Major Development Permit #60-16. The contractor has
proposed modifying the work bridge by reducing the out-to-out width from 40' to 30', finger widths from 40' to
30', as well as, placing them directly over the permanent bents. Four 30' wide fingers would be added to the back
side of the trestle, so cranes can be moved off of the main line trestle. These fingers are at approximately 24+50 RT,
30+00 RT, 44+50 and 50+75. In addition, temporary fenders are proposed at Bents 14 and 15 to protect crews and
structures during construction. Please see the attached work trestle plans.
NCDOT will continue to follow all other conditions of the CAMA permit, as originally authorized.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Tyler Stanton at tstanton@ncdot.gov or
(919) 707-6156.
