In the wake of Hurricane Mathew, Gates County was under a State of Emergency. October
freeboard levels were less than 2'. The rainfall totaled 13.6 for the month of October. The previous
month, September, the rainfall totaled 20.15. Due to excessive amounts of rainfall from. Hurricane
Mathew and to prevent runoff and/or ponding, the irrigation events were split into multiple events thru
out each application day for the month of October to allow the field to "rest" between spray events.
Tri-State videoed the collections system and identified the I & I. We are currently researching
the best options to resolve this issue.
The Chlorine injection pump failed and we are in the process of converting the system over to
liquid chlorine treatment instead of chlorine gas for safety concerns.
