Nikki,
From the three in the Dan River drainage, it looks like only Bridge 39 over Jacob's Creek might need a survey
for Roanoke logperch. It is a direct trib to the Dan River and appears to be big enough and have sufficient
habitat. Section 7 consultation may be required for it.
Bridge 171 looks like it's too small and has poor habitat, and Bridge 248 flows into a lake. I would be
comfortable with a No Effect biological conclusion for Roanoke logperch for these two bridges.

I also have USGS and Soil Survey vicinity maps, JD packages, etc. if that will help.
Thanks!

Nikki,
Can you provide me with locations for Rockingham Bridges 39, 171, and 248, or at least lat and longs? Once I
figure out where they are I'll let you know my thoughts on surveys.

Bridge No. 7 is in the Cape Fear (Jordan Lake) drainage. All the rest drain to the Dan River (Roanoke), however, when I
used the iPac interface on the USFWS website, it only came back with James spinymussel and Smooth coneflower as
the T&E species within the project site. Let me know if I need to request a Log Perch survey from NES and I’ll get on it.
Thank you!

Nikki,
Based on the info provided, I don't have any concerns for mussels or plants. A "No effect" biological
conclusion is probably appropriate for all of them. The only question I have regards the Roanoke logperch at
the Rockingham County bridges. Bridge 283 is addressed and is a "No Effect" due to the drainage that it is
in. What drainages are Bridges 7, 39, 171, and 248 in? If they are in the Dan River drainage, I may need more
info on them.

In an effort to be proactive (and because I think some things are clearly falling through the cracks), I’ve
attached some documentation for you for a series of bridges that we’ve scoped within the last 6 months or so.
It is a mussel habitat report done by EPR (covers multiple bridges), DOT documentation (where I have it) and
a T&E Plant Survey report (also covers multiple bridges).
Would you mind terribly looking these over and letting me know which ones need to be either expounded
upon or need your concurrence? I realize this may not be the protocol, but there has been so much going on
internally within DOT I think things are falling off the mark.
Thank you in advance!
Nikki
