Dear Mr. Sugar:
The Division of Water Quality (DWQ) received your application fora 401 Water Quality Certification
for the subject project on March 19, 2008. I have reviewed the application and the following
information/comments are needed by this office (copies submitted to Raleigh) in order to complete our
review:
a) Please provide a diagram showing the impact to the stream (plan view). Differentiate between
impacts due to dam construction and rip rap.
b) Please provide a vicinity map (mapquest.com), and topo map (topozone.com).
c) Please provide a stream delineation (survey).
d) This application states that impervious area will be approximately 25%. Impervious area 24%
or greater within a drainage area, must have a storm water management plan (post
construction).
e) Minimization & Avoidance. Please provide an alternative for the potential of an "off line" pond
or drilled well, rather than construction in the intermittent stream. Please provide
documentation/need for the propose pond size.
Pursuant to 15A NCAC 2H .0507(h), please be advised that this project will be placed on hold.
Failure to submit the requested information by March 21, 2008 will result in the application being
withdrawn from consideration. You may reapply, but a new fee and application will be required. In
addition, this office is requesting that the Army Corps of Engineers withhold processing the 404 permit
until the requested information is provided.
