The weather will be monitored using the Intellicast website and Intellicast (Weather Underground) phone application. The weather will be monitored constantly throughout the day by the Superintendents and the Engineer to determine when Best Management Practices need to be implemented for a rain event. Each Superintendent will relay weather-related plans to his Foremen as often as needed. The Night Superintendent will be responsible for monitoring the website and phone application to determine when to stop grading operations and proceed with the installation of erosion control devices. The day Superintendents will pass along any pertinent weather information before leaving for the day. When there is a high probability of rain, grading operations will cease at least two hours before predicted rain to give operators ample time to install measures for the storm. Foremen will closely monitor the installation of the measures to insure proper installation. Foremen will notify Superintendents when measures are in place. Superintendents will inspect devices with the Foremen. All substandard installation of erosion control devices will be corrected immediately. Any additional erosion measures deemed necessary by the Superintendent will be added. Special attention will be given to specific areas such as permitted sites where silt loss has been experienced in the past. Superintendents will inspect the devices in these locations to verify adequate controls are in place before rain begins. Each Foreman will be responsible for the environmentally sensitive areas within his section. He has standing authority to install immediate erosions controls at specific areas where silt loss has occurred in the past. Foremen have the authority to use their discretion to prepare sites as necessary to prevent erosion and silt loss.
