Jason,
Thanks for the photos and for summarizing the field meeting discussion. Do you know when the silt fence will be
installed? Based on the forecast for the weekend, I’d like to get that installed by COB today.
Thanks,
Brian Wrenn

Good morning all,
Per our discussion at the stream relocation for Skeet Club on Wednesday, I’m sending you all some brief minutes of
what we discussed. Brian/Jerry if there’s anything I’ve missed let me know.
We walked the entire stream relocation. As of Wednesday the contractor had completed all of the proposed
relocation with the exception of the tie-in’s at each end of the project. The project was built entirely in the dry
and the purpose for our review was to ensure that the agencies were satisfied that DOT could turn water into
the new stream and begin back filling the old channel.
Brian Wrenn with NCDWR agreed that DOT had constructed a stable channel (with seeding & mulching
completed and coir fiber matting installed on the banks throughout) and that water could be turned into the
new channel. He requested that DOT install silt fence around the pipe crossing (both up and downstream) and
install silt fence as needed along the upper reach to protect the new channel from the work zone. We also
discussed installed SF as needed around the waste pile. Seeding and mulching was completed along both the
upper and lower reaches on the terrace as of Wednesday afternoon.
I revisited the site yesterday and the tie-in is complete and stable. I’ve included photos of water in the new
channel per Brian’s request. I’m hoping we get rain this weekend which will increase the flow and assist with
vegetation establishment. The site will need to have live staking and reforestation scheduled to be completed
this winter prior to DOT beginning the monitoring requirements. Monitoring at this site consists of vegetation
monitoring and photo documentation of channel stability.
Please let me know if you have any additional info that I may have missed. Thanks and I hope you all have a good
holiday weekend.
