Attached please find a Minor Modification of CAMA Major Permit No. 224-87 authorizing excavation by
pipeline dredge of an area of Hatteras Inlet with dimensions of 150 feet in width and totaling approximately 600
feet in length, with placement of the excavated material in the existing spoil site on Ocracoke Island. Please
note that this Minor Modification also expands the use of the Maintenance Clause provisions of this Permit to
future excavation by pipeline dredge, if needed, of two areas of Hatteras Inlet with dimensions of 150 feet in
width and totaling approximately 1,200 feet in length as depicted on the workplan drawings that were attached
to the previous Minor Modification issued by DCM on 11/19/15.
A paper copy will be sent to NCDOT in Powells Point. If anyone else would like a paper copy, please let me
know.

This permit, issued on 6�14�1 ti , is subject to compliance with the applica�ion (where consistent
with the permit), all applicable regulations, special conditions and notes set %rth below. Any violation of these terms may
be subject to fines, imprisonment or civil action; or may cause the permit to be null and void.
1} Unless specifically altered herein, this Minor Modiiication authorizes excavation by pipeline dredge af
an area of Hatteras Inlet with dimensions of 154 feet in width and totaling approxirnately 600 feet in
�ength, with placement of the excavated material in the existing spail site on Ocxacoke Island, all as
depicted on the attached workp�an drawing.
2) Excavation sha�l not exceed -12 feet below the mean �ow water level. In no case shall the depth of
excavation exceed the depth of conriecting waters.
3) The excavatian of submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) is nat authorized.

This permit action may be appealed by the permittee or
ather yualitied persons vvithin twenty (20} days of the issuing
date.
This permit must be accessible on-site to Department
personnel when the project is inspected for campliance.
Any maintenance work or project modification ttot covered
hereunder requires further Division approval.
All work must cease when the permit expires on
Decem�er 31, 2016
In issuing this permit, the State of Narth Caralina agrees
that your project is consistent with the North Garolina Coastal
Management Program.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS
NOTE: The in-water work moratorium listed in Condition No. 7 of this pern�it shall not apply io the
dredge event scheduled for the Sumrner of 2016 due ta the emergency nature of the dredge
event.
4) If, during project activity, submerged materials of archaeological significance are encountered, the
permittee shall immediately cease work and notify the Division af Coastal Management (DCM).
5) Nothing in this permit authorizes any activity which has not received approval from the National Park
Service (NPS) for wor�C within the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The proposed work shall not
commence until the permittee has been issued a Special Use Permit fram the NPS, if one is required, and a
copy of the Special Use Permit is received by DCM.
Maintenance Clause
6} This Minor Modification also expands the use of the Maintenatice Clause provisians of this Permit to
future excavation by pipeline d�redge, if needed, of two areas of Hatteras Inlet with dimensions of 150 feet
in width and totaling approximately 1,200 feet in length, with placement of the excavated material in the
existing spoil site an Ocracoke island, all as d�picted an the workplan drawings (S) that were attached ta
the previous Minor Modification issued by DCM on 11/19/15: 3 dated 10127/15, 1 dated 10/26/15, and 1
dated as received on 1115/15.
7) No in-water work shall be canducted between April 1 to Septe�nber 34 of any year without prior approval
of the N.C. Division of Coastal Management (DCM), in consultation wit� the appropriate resource
agencies.
8) DCM shall be notified in writing at least two (2) weeks in advance of any rnaintenance work authorized
by this Permit, and such notification shall include:
A. The �tumber of the ariginal permit.
B. A statement that no dimensional changes are proposed.
C. A copy of the ariginal permit plans with cross-hatching indicating the current channel
location, the area to be maintained, the area to be used for spoil disposal, and the estimated
amount of material to be removed. The location, design and holding capacity of the spoil
disposal site must be approved by a representative of the Division prior to the initiation of
any maintenance dredging activities.
D. The date of map revision and the permittee's signature shown anew on the original plan.

NOTE: Any praposal ta expand the dredge footprint or ta utilize a sidecast dredge either now or in the
future shall require additional appraval from the Division.
9) This Minor Modif catian does not eliminate the need to obtain any additional permits, approva�s ar
authorizations that may be required. Any suc� permits that are required from the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers and the N.C. Division of Water Resources shall be obtained and provided to DCM priar to
project initiation.
10) This Minor Modificatian shall be attached to the original of Permit No. 224-87, which was issued on
11/20/87, as well as all subsequent modifications, renewals and letters of refineanent, and copies of all
documents sk�ali be readily available on site when a Division representative inspects the project for
compliance.
11) All conditions and stipulations of the active percnit remain in force under this Minor Modifica�ion unless
altered herein.
NOTE: A minor rnadification application process�ng fee of $140 was received by DCM for this pro�ect.
