The purpose for the request is to allow for repairs to the existing outfall correcting a movement in vertical alignment that has occurred. Work, including some excavation, will be performed to restore the pipe to approximately the same alignment as the `as built' construction. Minor differences are necessary due to the pipe movement. The location where the pipe surfaces from buried condition will be at approximately the same location as `as built'. To ensure that the vertical alignment is maintained, placement of sand bag weights will be made per plans after the pipe is re -positioned. Sand bags were selected due to their ability to accommodate the uneven mudline minimizing disturbance of same. Included with this letter request are 1) four copies of the proposed construction plan and 2) a check in the amount of $100 payable to the NC Department of Environmental Quality for the minor modification request fee.
