I forgot to include the extension of the MCNC bore. The representative from MCNC, also elected to extend the bore
another 250’ to the north. This will insure, they do not have a conflict with the guardrail and project area. This will result
in the bore changing from approximately 550’ to 800’ long. This bore will not impact any wetlands, as previously stated
in the original application. The depth of the bore will still be 10 feet or deeper, as shown on the previous profile
drawings.
Thanks,
Clay

Greg,
In meeting with the utility contractor, who will be boring the Century Link line, they discovered the existing connection
vault and fiber line is located directly adjacent to the existing power pole. This area is within the delineated wetland
boundary. Once the contractor bores the new line, they will need to hand dig a 1’ -2’ wide trench (1’ deep) to access the
existing vault and make the new connection. Once the connection is made the trench can be filled back in and the area
will be maintained, as it is currently. There will be no new impacts associated with this utility work. All the work is within
the existing footprint of the vault and buried line. The proposed hand trenching will not result in more than 20 sq. ft. of
temporary wetland impacts. I have sketched the proposed temporary impacts on the permit drawings. Please, let me
know if you need anything else to update your information for this utility work.
Thanks,
Clay
