While incorporating the NCDOT minimum standards for subdivision roads (horizontal and vertical alignments), and the Town of Oak Ridge zoning requirements for minimum 40,000 square foot lots, the regulations made using the existing crossings of the creeks impractical. • With the proposed street location, we further reduced the impacts by adding headwalls to the culverts, which reduced the permanent impact to stream crossing #1 by 8 feet and stream crossing #2 by 6 feet. We designed the culverts to be buried one foot below the stream bed. We also designed the rip -rap dissipater pad to be sunken so that the top of the rip -rap is placed at the original stream bed elevation for a temporary disturbance, rather than the standard rip -rap- pad which would be a permanent disturbance. • Construction sequence and scheduling the installation of the culverts are outlined in the plans.
