R. 1430 (Crisco Road) in West Cabarrus County, travel south on S. R. 1430 approximately 1. 70 miles to the junction with S. R. 1555 (Grand Canyon Road) . Turn left at the junction and proceed on S. R. 1555 approximately 250 feet to the junction with S. R. 1590 (Arizona Place) . Turn left (northwest) and proceed on S. R. 1590 approximately 0 . 15 mile; the Gazeley residence is on the right (north) side of the road. 6 . Size ( land available for expansion and upgrading) : Limited land area available for any expansion/upgrading 8 . Topography ( relationship to flood plain included) : Hilly, 3-12% slopes. The facilities are subsurface and are not likely to be affected by flooding. 9 . Location of Nearest Dwelling: A number of dwellings within 300 feet of the subsurface facility. 10 . Describe receiving stream features and pertinent downstream uses : The receiving water, an unnamed tributary to Afton Run, is a narrow creek with a small but incessant flow. Because Afton Run is classified as WS-III waters, the effluent should be disinfected before discharge. There are no known downstream users within a reasonable distance from the subject discharge. No discharge was observed on the day of the inspection. The effluent Page Three generated from this facility, according to the Permittee, is approximately twenty gallons per day. It is recommended that the NPDES Discharge Permit be renewed. It is also recommended that the discharge be connected to an area-wide system as soon as one becomes available in that area. 4/?
