Description of review activities, results, and conclusions:
Review of HPO quad maps, HPO GIS information, historic designations roster, and indexes was
undertaken on July 26, 2018. Based on this review, there is a determined eligible site, a survey
site, and several properties over fifty years of age within the Area of Potential Effects, which is
defined on the following maps. A survey was required and performed August 15, 2018. The
survey site Mill Spring Sandwich Shop (PL0186) at the westernmost end of the project is
dilapidated and has lost material and design integrity, it is not eligible for National Register
listing. All other properties over fifty years of age that are undocumented were visually surveyed,
and it was determined that all are unremarkable and/or have lost integrity and do not warrant
further evaluation. The one Determined Eligible site within the APE, Thomas Joseph "Toddy
Joe" Waldrop House (PL0194), will require an assessment of effects in conjunction with the
State Historic Preservation Office, if it is found to be within a USACE permit area, as this
project is state -funded with federal permits. The Corps determined on November 30, 2018, that
the Thomas Joseph "Toddy Joe" Waldrop House (PL0194) falls outside of the permit area, and
therefore no effects coordination with SHPO will be required per the 404 permit. Historic
Architecture Review is complete If plans change, additional review will be required.
