Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hr/day): Design/Future: 54,500 Year: 2037 Existing: 45,000 Year: 2017 General Project Narrative: (Description of Minimization of Water Quality Impacts) The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has proposed towiden NC 9 in Spring Mills, NC. There are no proposed major structures involved with the improvements to NC 9. All drainage improvements have been designed to have as little environmental and surface water impacts as possible. Coir fiber and matting and rip -rap were utilized for bank stabilization where necessary in an attempt to reduce sediment transport and streambank erosion. Where required, chnnel improvements were made to provide a better transition from existing channels to proposed structure crossings. Channel improvements were lined with CL II riprap to reduce sediment transport. Grassed swales were used when possible. Rip -rap was utlized in ditches to provide stabilization to prevent erosion. Within the project limits there are jurisdictional streams. Velocities at jurisdictional features are non -erosive.
