Easter fell on Sunday 3/31/2024 and Monday 4/1/2024 was the holiday. On March 25, 2024, (3) loads were pumped from the septic tank in preparation of Easter week. The campground was completely full for the week starting 3/24/2024 through 4/2/2024. With the permit change, the daily maximum of 15.0 mg/L (winter) to 7.5 mg/L((summer) on the April 1,2024, the plant’s temperature in the aeration basin was 19 degrees, not high enough for complete treatment and there was greater flow due to campground completely full, less detention time. There was only one complete treatment day in between camper’s dumping and sampling, therefore temperature, detention time and permit change in 4/1/2024 were an issue for the BOD being 8.6 mg/L. The rest of the month of April’s BOD were in compliance and the monthly average was also compliant. If you have any questions, you can reach me at rhoward1@northstate.net or 336-905-1718.
