HomeMy WebLinkAboutWQCS00021_NOV-2024-DV-0307 Response To Notice_20240807„t NORTH CAROIiNA Ac August 7, 2024 Vanessa Manuel, Assistant Regional Supervisor.'�� Water Quality Regional Operations Sectiona1��t Raleigh Regional Office Division of Water Resources, NCDEQ RE: Notice of Violation Tracking Number: NOV-2024-DV-0307 Sanitary Sewer Overflows- June 2024 Collection System Permit No. WQCS00021 Wilson Collection System Wilson County Ms. Manuel, Incident # 202401099-On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM, the water infrastructure department became aware of a sanitary sewer overflow at 606 Trinity Drive West, Wilson, NC. The cause of the overflow was grease. Crews were dispatched, and the overflow stopped within 2 hours. Manholes and sewer lines in the area were flushed and vacuumed using a combo truck. The area affected was cleaned and storm drains in the area were cleaned using a combo truck as well. The City of Wilson distributes FOG materials to residents biannually to educate the public on what should not be introduced into the sewer system. In addition, the water infrastructure also distributes door hangers in areas where grease is an ongoing issue. Crews periodically monitor this area for other issues and perform maintenance as needed.
