Bolton-Menk.com June 7, 2024 Technical Memo: Response to CAMA Major Comments The following is a list of responses to the review comments made for the North River Wetland Preserve: Donor Marsh CAMA Major Application. 1. "Sample Title Block(indicating name of applicant)". a. Response:See sheet 1 for Title Block with applicant's name on cover. 2. "Width of adjacent water body". a. Response:Adjacent water body has a width of approximately 40 ft,see sheet 3. 3. "Coastal Wetlands". a. Response: Marsh limits are seen on sheets 3,5,and 7-13 within the drawings. 4. "404 Type Wetlands". a. Response:Wetland limits from National Wetland Inventory are seen on 3, 5, and 7-13 within the drawings. No 404 wetlands were assessed within the project limits.All work is proposed on existing prior converted farmland. 5. "Exact areas and dimension of proposed excavation (for both high ground and in water excavation)" a. Response:Area of excavation in CAMA limits shown on profiles on sheets 4-7. Sheet 4-7 depict grading profiles and cross sections within work limits,this is ordinary and customary. If DCM needs more specific areas or volumes if desired, please reach out. 6. "Exact areas and dimensions for fill and-or spoil disposal (for both high ground and in water fill)" a. Response:Area of fill in CAMA limits shown on profiles on sheets 7-12 within the drawings.Sheet 7-12 depicts grading profiles and cross sections within work limits,this is ordinary and customary. If DCM needs more specific areas or volumes if desired, please reach out. 7. "Existing water depths to relative Normal Water Level (indicate datum used to determine depths and whether or not soundings were collected based on elevation or vegetation;also indicate proposed water depths for water depths)". a. Response: Normal Water Level is shown on sheets 7-12. Depths were taken from a survey from the North Carolina Coastal Federation.The proposed slough will be daylighted to existing AEC waters. Otherwise, excavation will all be taken in prior converted crop land. No sounds were taken as proposed work is within prior converted farmland. 8. "Approximate Normal Water Level (NWL)". Response: Normal Low Water is shown on sheets 7-12.Curated line work was taken from the North Carolina Coastal Federation survey conducted between July through December 2023. 10. "Property Boundaries". a. Response: Property Boundaries from Carteret County GIS are seen on all sheets. 11. "Riparian Corridors(for structures located over public trust waters)". a. Response:There are no existing structures within the CAMA limits. Neighboring parcels are owned by the applicant, North Carolina Coastal Federation. 12. "Names of adjacent property owners". a. Response: Parcel information from Carteret County GIS including property owners are seen on sheets 3, 5, and 7-13. 13. "Area of Environmental Concern (AEC) boundary(example: 75-foot Estuarine Shoreline AEC)" . a. Response:AEC limits are seen on sheets 3, 5, and 7-13. 14. "30-foot Coastal Shoreline Buffer" . a. Response:Coastal Shoreline Buffer shown on sheets 3, 5, and 7-13. 15. "Depth and elevation of existing structures" . a. Response:There are no existing structures within the limits of the project. 16. "Proposed work relative to existing ground level" . a. Response:Area of excavation in CAMA limits shown on profiles on sheets 3,5,and 7-13. b.
