Re -locating fish is usually not approved because of the transport of disease and parasites, etc, and it would technically be viewed as a stocking and require a permit from us (which we would likely not approve). I've seen some people bury the fish if they are dredging. I would recommend dewatering as slow as possible, maybe slower than they currently have outlined, to allow some to naturally emigrate out of the system or get scooped up by birds. I do think it might take them more than a day to harvest dead fish and more than a few boats, but I guess that is up to them to decide the logistics. It will be a lot of fish. They may need to do more than one round of treatment or have a method on hand to remove fish after the full dewatering. So as you can see, there are no real good options, but I do think this method will work, it will just be stinky! Please let me know if you have any questions — again, very sorry for the delay. I have sent this to our district fisheries biologist to get her insight. I've let her know that the time period for review is short, so hopefully she is able to look at it within the next several days. I'll circle back shortly. Thanks! I am reaching out to see if you have a chance to provide any guidance on this project. The main item being the anticipated dewatering/lake lowering procedure that is outlined in the updated PCN attached: N For the fish removal, the plan is as follows; 1. Lower lake level several feet . Shock fish to get a sampling (this wiII help deterrrrine the amount of Rotenone to use) _ Keep lake level dowry several feet, close valve, apply Rotenone one evening to kill all fish (the lowerec will keep Rotenone from escaping downstream) 4. The next mGming, use boats to collect fish and haul off site in trucks_ 5_ Allow several days duration for Rotenone to dissipate, test for when levels are safe to release water- 6- Draiin lake entirely. I reached out to a few folks, and we decided it would be best to consult with you on this proposed method. Is this something that you typically see? I apologize for the timing, but my 60-day review period for this one is up on June 8t" and we did not notice this method until our review this week. Any input or recommendations you have on this would be greatly appreciated! If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything, please let me know.
